Washington Entrepreneurs Come Together to Show Beauty at its Best
An Evening of Shopping and Networking

(Washington, DC) -- At 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2009, The District's fashionistas and Washington business women will gather at The City Tavern Club on fashionable M Street in Georgetown to meet local mavens in the Beauty and Fashion industry. Ladies will nosh on hors d'oeuvres and sip cocktails, as they meet young female entrepreneurs in the "Beauty Biz", and peruse each boutique's booth. Ada Polla Tray and her team from Alchime Forever will give attendees individualized skincare analysis. Kassie Rempel of SimplySoles.com and Valerie Lucas of Coup de Foudre will tease women with a taste of the high-end shoes and bras that can be found at their respective boutique. Betsy Fisher Albaugh will bring a sampling of her store's best, and Allison Brooks of Queen Bee Designs will set up a bee hive full of jewelry for women to try on.

“Beauty to me is simply feeling your best. It’s the inner peace that comes with feeling self-assured. I think that part of how we feel about ourselves originates from how we present ourselves – and so it’s no surprise that I’ve found myself in a career where I essentially wardrobe women," said Kassie Rempel, Owner of SimplySoles.com and Designer of the Lillybee line of shoes. "For me – shoes are the beginning of any ensemble and are the foundation of my confidence level. It’s a passion I feel privileged to share.”

Whether the self-confidence comes from a comfortable, yet beautiful shoe, using the right
undergarments to slim and lift, having to die for skin, or the must-have "IT" piece of clothing or jewelry, these beauty mavens can help Washington women look and feel their very best.

The event will also help those less fortunate look and feel their best as donations are being taken at the door for Suited for Change, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which provides professional clothing and ongoing career and life skills education to low-income women to increase their employment and job retention potential and to contribute to their economic independence. Those who make a donation will be entered to win door prizes provided by the participating boutiques.

About Queen Bee Designs
Queen Bee Designs is ruled by a very lovely Queen indeed – Allison Priebe Brooks. Allison has always had a flair for fashion – especially jewelry, but she could not find the bold pieces she was looking for anywhere. She enrolled in studio art classes at the Smithsonian and learned to make her own pieces. To Allison's surprise, people wanted to buy her jewelry right off of her neck! Allison obliged and decided it was time to turn her passion and hobby into a business.
Queen Bee Designs has turned into a very successful business – and the BUZZ is really getting around and so are Allison’s fabulous pieces - worn by top news anchors, celebs, & even Miss America! Her products have been featured on Good Morning America, in the Washington Post, Washingtonian Magazine, Lucky, and Women's Wear Daily.

About SimplySoles
SimplySoles is a catalog and online women’s shoe boutique that opened its very first bricks and mortar location in Washington DC in late 2008. The business was born in 2004 out of a passion for shoes and a desire to enjoy of the convenience of shopping for them from home. Rempel explains that “doing a lot of catalog shopping at the time, the lack of attention to accessories in fashion catalogs drove me crazy. I couldn’t see details of the product despite potentially spending hundreds of dollars for a pair of shoes. So I decided that I needed to build what I wanted to shop from – a catalog and online boutique offering a carefully edited collection of shoes, handbags, and other accessories. It took about a year to design the first catalog, and educate myself about how to design, print, mail a catalog – but the first ones shipped in September 2004 and with some shoes, a tape gun, and a 1-800 number, my business began.” Five years later, SimplySoles has loyal domestic and international clients and is the women’s premier shoe catalog. Moreover Rempel designed and debuted her own collection in Spring 2008 called “lillybee,” which in its first season became SimplySoles’ top selling brand. She has been named as one of the top five emerging entrepreneurs in Entrepreneur magazine’s Annual Awards, recognized by the Washington Business Journal as one of the 2008 Women Who Mean Business, and has been featured on the cover of Fortune Small Business magazine in a story on extreme customer service.
